Real Madrid will auction old lockers from Santiago Bernabeu for an eye-watering price

Real Madrid are to auction off their old Santiago Bernabeu lockers after the stadium underwent a billion-dollar renovation.

London-based company Sotheby’s has announced that Los Merengues will be auctioning 24 individual lockers with players’ names on them and that the bidding price for those lockers will start at $12,967 USD. ESPN reports.

The lockers, which were in use between 2001 and 2022, will be auctioned as they were last used in the 2021-2022 season. The Madrid side won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League that season.

The club played 544 home games in the aforementioned period, with superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario and more playing during the period.

Between 2001 and 2022, Real Madrid won six UEFA Champions League trophies and six La Liga titles. In addition to the lockers, a 3-meter-wide Real Madrid badge, previously used at the entrance to the dressing room, will also be auctioned. The offering price for it starts at $15,561 USD.

The auction starts on November 12 and runs for two weeks until November 26. The items will now be exhibited in London between November 20 and November 26.

Real Madrid will be back in action on Tuesday, November 5 as Carlo Ancelotti’s side take on AC Milan in a thrilling UEFA Champions League home match. The Madrid side suffered a shock 4-0 defeat to arch-rivals Barcelona in their previous match. Last weekend they were supposed to play Valencia, but the match had to be postponed due to Cyclone DANA.
