Plymouth man arrested for drunk driving and speeding on Route 8

WATERTOWN, CT (WFSB) A 26-year-old Plymouth man was arrested Saturday evening after speeding on Route 8 and driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to Connecticut State Police, an officer was conducting proactive speed enforcement on northbound Route 8, near Exit 34 in Watertown, when he observed a pickup truck traveling at a speed of 83 miles per hour – well above the posted speed limit of 60 miles per hour. o’clock.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on the exit ramp of Exit 34, and the driver, later identified as Dakota Arsenault of Plymouth, complied by driving to the right side of the road.

Upon checking the vehicle’s registration in Connecticut, the officer discovered that the vehicle had been suspended for lack of insurance and that the registration did not match the truck.

Arsenault admitted the vehicle was not registered or insured.

Further investigation revealed that Arsenault had been drinking.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with several offenses including driving an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of registration, speeding in excess of 70 miles per hour on a limited access highway and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Chemical tests at Troop L confirmed Arsenault’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.

Arsenault was released on a $500 bond and will appear in Waterbury Superior Court on November 13, 2024.
