24-year-old remanded for alleged murder

Kaline Masibalavu, 24, who is charged over the alleged murder of a 25-year-old man in Suva over the weekend, was today remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court.

According to police, the duo were involved in an argument after which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim outside the Harbor Center in Suva last Saturday.

The victim was admitted and later died at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.

Masibalavu chose a Legal Aid lawyer, but there was no lawyer present on site.

The Magistrates Court has advised Masibalavu to file an alibi charge within 21 days.

It has also deemed the offense punishable and transferred it to the Supreme Court.

Kaline Masibalavu will make her first appearance before the Suva High Court on the 19th of this month.
