X-Men '97's Gambit Voice Actor Made His Own Gambit Costume, And I Desperately Need One Of My Own

Fans love it when an actor really commits to a role they play and genuinely expresses their love for it. That’s certainly been the case when it comes to the hit’s cast and crew TV program 2024 entry X Men ’97. Many of the actors have shown love for both the show and their characters. That’s especially true of AJ LoCascio, who voices Gambit, and if you need proof of that, you should see his amazing customization.

Marvel Animations critically acclaimed program X Men ’97 is a continuation of the classic show that debuted in 1992. The characters wear their classic costumes. AJ LoCascio recently took to Instagram to share how he recreated Remy LeBeau’s signature gear after almost two years, and I really need this in my closet:

As a fan, I appreciate not only the costume, but another gracious act the voice actor part. In the end he was kind enough to tell us where each piece came from so we could try making our own at home. (Although one of the pieces may be too original for the average fan.)

The full fit check includes: A chest piece that AJ LoCascio himself 3D sculpted, printed and cast in resin. There are also handmade leather boots, a jacket from Amazon and props from Etsy. A week before the post above was posted, LoCascio shared the completion of the chest piece, which looks phenomenal:

The fact that most of this cosplay is handmade, either by the star herself or other independent artists, is so freaking cool. As a former cosplayer and Gambit fan, this is a serious need, although I’m not nearly as skilled at making my own custom 3D printed chest piece. So Amazon may be my top option (no pun intended). But in short: kudos to the Dawn of the Croods star for bringing this all together, as it arguably even competes Channing Tatum’s Gambit outfit Deadpool and Wolverine.

AJ LoCascio’s love for his character is absolutely infectious, with fans hyping the card-wielding Cajun Gambit all the time. X Men ’97‘s first season. Those who have seen the episode will know that the character has an incredibly tragic arc, which really comes to fruition in the episode “Remember It.”

Following the tragic twist in that partthe character’s future on the show remains somewhat ambiguous. However, an apocalypse theory could clarify what awaits Remy. I’m curious to see what happens there, but in the meantime, I’m curious to see more cosplay from AJ LoCascio and fans too!
