Imane Khelif, controversial boxer, identified as man in leaked medical report

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who won gold in women’s boxing at the Paris Olympics, has been confirmed as a man, according to a medical report.

According to the medical report, obtained by French journalist Djaffar Ait Aoudia, it states that Khelif was affected by five-alpha reductase deficiency, a disorder of sexual development that is said to occur in genetic males, News 18 reports.

The leaked report is said to have been prepared in June 2023.

An MRI result accompanying the report, which was a copy of a thorough physical examination performed on Khelif to verify the presence of a sexual development disorder, also reportedly determined that Khelif did not have a uterus, but instead had internal testicles and a “micropenis” that resembles an enlarged clitoris.

According to Aoudia, after the MRI test, Khelif also underwent a chromosomal test, which further confirmed that the Algerian has an XY karyotype. A hormone test was also performed which showed that Khelif had a testosterone level typical for men.

After examination, doctors had suggested that Khelif’s parents may have been blood relatives, Aoudia claimed.

The report had also recommended that the boxer be referred for ‘surgical correction and hormone therapy’, along with psychological support.
