Five suspects in theft targeting Dollar General in Grand Bay

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested five people in connection with what authorities say was an organized theft ring targeting a Dollar General store in Grand Bay

Authorities said they were contacted on Oct. 10 about a possible organized theft ring operating at the store at 10477 Ramsey Road.

Since the store opened on March 26, 2023, a total of $385,246 worth of inventory had been lost, according to the MCSO. Through hours of surveillance video, detectives identified the store’s assistant manager, Brittany Forrest, and store employee Calie Kent, as well as three non-employees – Carl Kent, Ophia Gordon and Irial Forrest – as those believed to have been involved in the crime. The MCSO said the three non-employees are family or friends of the two store employees.

The five were arrested on Thursday.

They are all charged with organized shoplifting and will appear in court again on Tuesday.

Additional arrests are possible, the MCSO said.
