Arsenal news: Monday Night Club on Edu’s departure

Rory Smith of the New York Times believes Edu did not leave Arsenal as a result of the fallout, but believes the Brazilian wanted to move to a place where he could have “more impact and more influence”.

Smith spoke about how he believes the Gunners are now a club “shaped by Arteta” and that this reduces the impact of Edu’s role.

Meanwhile, former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given believes Edu’s departure is “a bit of a rocket ship for Arsenal” and that “it looked like the perfect fit from the outside”.
