18-year-old dies while being run over multiple times on highway, authorities say

BAKERSFIELD, California. (Gray News) – An 18-year-old woman was struck by several motorists on a California highway on Halloween night and died, according to California Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda was traveling approximately 90 to 100 km/h in lane number three of the highway. KBAK reported.

For unknown reasons, the woman walked into the lane just before 6:45 p.m. Authorities say the Honda struck her and she ended up in lane four, directly into the path of a Bentley, which then also struck the pedestrian.

CHP initially told KBAK that the woman was a skateboarder.

The drivers of the Honda and the Bentley remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

According to CHP, the woman is believed to have been hit multiple times by unknown passing drivers.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported. It is unclear whether charges have been filed.
