Tensions are rising in the Predators locker room after last night’s game!

The Nashville Predators suffered another loss on Monday night as they were shut out 3-0 by the Los Angeles Kings, dropping them to a 4-7-1 record. No one expected that after the busy summer in which new general manager Barry Trotz added Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei in free agency.

Veteran forward Ryan O’Reilly did not hide his emotions after the match and admitted his play was pathetic.

“I know for myself that I am extremely frustrated,” he started his interview after the match.

“I think that was one of the worst games of my career… I was pathetic.”

O’Reilly finished with one shot on target in 15:22 minutes.

The locker room also felt the frustration from defenseman Luke Schenn, who dropped the gloves in a heated battle with Kings’ Tanner Jeannot in the second period, nearly calling out some of his teammates for the lack of offense since the start of the season.

‘We didn’t generate anything offensively’ Schenn said. ‘Only circumference. We’ve talked about it, but you’re not going to score goals unless you come in. . . just not good enough.”

“I’m not picking anyone out, they’re just facts.”

Through twelve games, the Predators are in last place in the Central Division and just one point ahead of the San Jose Sharks at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.

That in itself says a lot and adds to the frustration in Nashville. However, after the 3-0 loss to Los Angeles, head coach Andrew Brunette wanted to make sure his players were careful with their emotions, especially at this point in the season when it is time to refocus and get back on track .

“(Frustration) is a dangerous emotion, and it gets the best out of us,” Brunette said. “Unfortunately it was leaked by almost the entire team.

“Frustration plays tricks on you. Frustration makes you think you are really working when you are not working. Frustration actually makes you a bad teammate. Frustration is contagious. So that’s some pretty bad stuff, and that’s kind of leaked through our group now.

The Preds face the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night and are certainly hoping the frustration will give way to celebration as they desperately need a win.
