Rudy Giuliani’s apartment was cleared out weeks ago, victims say in defamation lawsuit

Rudy Giuliani is due to appear in person in federal court on Thursday after two election workers, who will receive nearly all of his most valuable assets, told a judge they believe Donald Trump’s former lawyer is hiding items from them.

The complaint from election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss — to whom Giuliani owes nearly $150 million for defaming them after the 2020 election — comes after lawyers for the mother and daughter Giuliani’s $6 million Manhattan apartment , and discovered much of the furniture and valuable sports memorabilia. has recently been removed.

“Except for some carpets, a dining table, some loose furniture and cheap wall art, and a handful of smaller items such as dishes and stereo equipment, the apartment has been stripped of all its contents,” Freeman and Moss’ attorney Aaron Nathan wrote in a letter to the judge in the case.

They are also trying, at the court’s direction, to take possession of Giuliani’s 26 luxury watches and a 1980 Mercedes-Benz that he kept in Florida. But these have not yet been transferred, as this week’s lawsuits show.

Nathan said the approach taken by Giuliani and his lawyers in the bankruptcy proceedings is one of “evasion and silence.”

Lawyers for Freeman and Moss had gone to the apartment last week to figure out how best to move the luxury items that should now be theirs, according to the judge’s order, into storage.

But the apartment was “virtually empty,” Nathan wrote. The expensive furnishings that Giuliani had used in real estate photos of the property earlier this year were moved four weeks ago, he said.

Judge Lewis Liman ordered Giuliani to appear in court later this week.

Giuliani’s lawyer told the court Tuesday that the former New York mayor cannot come to the federal courthouse in Manhattan on Thursday because Giuliani has to give a live radio show from his Palm Beach apartment that evening.

“We note that broadcasting, as described above, currently represents Mr. Giuliani’s sole source of income,” Giuliani’s attorney, Kenneth Caruso, told the court. “We respectfully suggest that loss of income and expenses for travel to New York should be avoided if possible.”

Giuliani’s radio broadcast was for a media platform founded by right-wing “MyPillow” CEO Mike Lindell. The show took him to the Republican National Convention this summerand Giuliani has since appeared to advocate for Trump in the election, including at the former president’s recent rally at Madison Square Garden.

Giuliani’s lawyers say the belongings that were in the Manhattan apartment are now in a storage facility on Long Island, but Freeman and Moss’ team say they are also having trouble gaining access to the items there.

The women are also still in court trying to convince the judge to allow them to take control of a $3.5 million Palm Beach condo where Giuliani says he now lives and extract four Yankees World Series rings the championships of the 1990s and 2000s, which Giuliani’s son says was a gift from his father.
