Warm election day with showers on Thursday

The first week of November feels more like a summer encore in Eastern North Carolina! High pressure has settled offshore and is pulling warm, slightly moist air our way. Temperatures today and tomorrow will rise to around 75°F inland and into the mid-70s along the coast, making it feel more like September than November. In addition, the dense fog will reduce visibility early in the morning before clearing by mid-morning.

We will see a weak cold front approaching on Thursday, bringing a greater chance of scattered showers and a hint of cloud. Rain totals will likely remain low, with up to a quarter inch possible, especially south of Highway 70. This system will not cause a major chill as highs remain in the 70s through the weekend and pleasant, dry conditions return. Friday.
