Johnny Somali is not allowed to leave South Korea because the streamer risks more than ten years in prison

Streamer Johnny Somali is banned from leaving South Korea and could face a prison sentence of more than ten years if convicted of assault and drug use.

Johnny Somali’s reign of terror in the streaming world began in 2023 when he Japan terrorized and Israel during broadcasts on Kick, resulting in multiple confrontations with the authorities.

The creator was confronted with the wrath of PewDiePiewho accused him of trying to “ruin” Japan in a YouTube video. This was the reason for Somalian to threaten the Swede with a lawsuit over some of the language used, arguing that PewDiePie was “defamatory” by calling him a terrorist.

In September 2024, Somali traveled to South Korea and continued his antics. Besides getting kicked out of a subway train and caused a scene in a supermarket, causing outrage kissing the Statue of Peace – a monument to victims of sexual slavery.

These incidents ultimately resulted in South Koreans take matters into your own hands by attacking him. A Korean YouTuber has even offered a $770 bounty for information on his whereabouts keep up the attacks.

Now the banned Kick streamer cannot leave the country even if he wants to after his streams hit the attention of the South Korean parliament. According to Yahoohe is accused of assault and drug use and is prohibited from leaving while an investigation is ongoing.

South Korea is very strict when it comes to drug use. Possession or use of illegal drugs can result in a penalty of up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 100 million won ($72,500 USD). In the meantime, raid may be subject to a maximum fine of two years or a fine of 5 million won ($3,600 USD).

If the case goes to trial, it would be the second time for Somalis to appear in court in an Asian country. After his trial in Japan, Somali admitted he lied to the judgeclaiming he wasn’t making any money from streaming and was filming ‘documentaries’.
