Election 2024 live updates and results: NY, NJ, CT key races, exit polls, voting issues

The Board of Elections determined Tuesday that there is a problem at some election locations in Queens.

At PS 164 in Vlissingen, voters reported problems scanning their ballots. We’re told machines immediately spit out paper ballots and in some cases voters had to hand in paper ballots.

According to the Electoral Council, an emergency bin was used. It’s unclear exactly how long this took, but the board says every vote is counted.

The BOE issued a statement saying that “technicians were immediately dispatched and corrective action was taken. In an abundance of caution, we had all 290 locations in Queens inspected.”

Anthony Carlo has the latest from Flushing, Queens.

Voters experienced no consequences other than additional attempts to scan their ballot or have it placed in the emergency bin as per protocol, the BOE said.

At PS 36 in the St. Albans area of Queens, Eyewitness News found a steady line of voters late Tuesday morning, but that line, we’re told, wasn’t moving very well earlier when the site first opened.

A poll worker tells us that one of the computer tablets was not properly configured for early voting. A technician had to be sent by the Board of Elections to resolve the problem. But site workers say this caused a problem for about an hour and a half because they “couldn’t serve the voter.”
