Mavericks Starter ruled out vs. Chicago Bulls

Mavericks Starter ruled out vs. Chicago Bulls

The Dallas Mavericks received two major injury updates on Tuesday. They start the season 4-3 with an upcoming game against the Chicago Bulls at the American Airlines Center on their home floor.

As fans await a verdict on Dereck Lively’s injury, the club provided their game statuses for the upcoming game against the Bulls. Lively is questionable as his results have yet to be made public due to his shoulder sprain.

However, the team will be without a starter as PJ Washington is out with a right knee sprain.

“Mavs PF PJ Washington is out tomorrow against Bulls due to a right knee sprain,” ESPN’s Tim McMahon reported. “C Dereck Lively II (right shoulder sprain) is questionable after being scratched late last night.”

Having the trio of Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson should give the Mavericks some comfort that they should be able to walk away from a game against the Bulls with a win. However, the two players with injuries are crucial to the club’s long-term success and prioritizing getting them fully healthy and being cautious is the smartest move they can make.

The Bulls could be without star guard Zach LaVine, who is dealing with an adductor injury. They will also have to make do without Lonzo Ball. Josh Giddey probably has a non-Covid illness.

There are other injuries on both sides, but those are the main injuries to starters or key rotation pieces.

The Mavericks are a 10.5-point favorite over the Bulls a night before tipoff.
