One man dead after apparent house fire in Strathcona

STRATHCONA, Minn. (Valley News Live) – One man is dead after an apparent house fire Monday in the Roseau County town of Strathcona.

According to the Roseau County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched to the home around 6:31 p.m. for a reported fire and smoke damage to the inside of the home. Only one victim was located. His body was taken to the University of North forensic department for an autopsy. The name has not yet been released.

According to the sheriff, there is no danger to the public. Both Lifecare Medical Center ambulance and Greenbush Fire Department responded to the scene next to the sheriff’s office.

The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota State Fire Marshall.
