Manitowoc County election results for Tittl, Sortwell, referenda


A Kiel schools referendum calling on voters to approve $67 million in general obligation bonds has failed.

MANITOWOC – Republican incumbents Paul Tittl and Shae Sortwell are leading their race for the Wisconsin Assembly seats for District 25 and District 2, respectively.

These numbers are consistent with what was reported by Manitowoc County on Tuesday at 11:50 p.m. At that point, 29 of Manitowoc County’s 40 units had reported their unofficial numbers.

Together, Tittl and Sortwell represent the majority of Manitowoc County in the State Assembly, but both also represent portions of other counties.

In District 25, Tittl received 8,512 votes from Manitowoc County as of 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, while Democratic candidate Stephen Welch received 4,370 votes.

In District 2, Sortwell received 5,316 votes from Manitowoc County, while Democratic candidate Alicia Saunders received 2,123 votes.

All votes are unofficial until a Board of Canvassers reviews and authenticates the ballots later this week.

Here’s how Manitowoc County voted during the remainder of the fall election.

Republican candidates lead in state Assembly districts 3 and 27

In Wisconsin Assembly District 3, incumbent Republican Ron Tusler led in Manitowoc County with 3,302 votes, while Democratic challenger Jason Schmitz received 1,140 votes.

In District 27, Republican candidate Lindee Brill led from Manitowoc County with 918 votes, while Democratic candidate Kay Ladson received 406 votes.

The school referendum in Kiel has been voted down. Mishicot, Valders school referendums passed.

Kiel School District

Kiel schools asked voters to approve $67 million in general obligation bonds to finance a major high school renovation and expansion project — 2,043, or 78%, voted no, while 573, or 22%, voted no .

Mishicot School District

Mishicot Schools asked voters to approve $29.6 million in general obligation bonds to fund their own high school renovation and expansion project – 2,276, or 61%, voted yes, while 1,462, or 39%, voted no voted.

Valders Area School District

Valders Schools asked voters to approve exceeding the revenue cap by $1.5 million per year between 2025 and 2029, which will go toward paying districtwide operating costs — 2,510, or 58% , voted yes, while 1,833, or 42%, voted no.

A referendum on the entire country

When asked about the statewide referendum asking whether the state constitution should be amended to provide that only a U.S. citizen 18 years of age or older residing in an election district may vote in an election, 19,729 Manitowoc County residents voted in favor ‘yes’, while 4,489 chose ‘no’. Tuesday 11:50 PM.

Tammy Baldwin and Eric Hovde are vying for the U.S. Senate seat

For the U.S. senator race, 17,048 voters in Manitowoc County chose Republican candidate Eric Hovde as of 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, and 8,926 voters chose Democratic candidate and incumbent Tammy Baldwin.

Statewide, Hovde led with 1,440,189 votes, while Baldwin had 1,370,920.

Glenn Grothman was also in the lead for his seat in the US Congress. In Manitowoc County, 17,895 voters chose Republican Grothman, while 7,626 voters chose Democrat John Zarbano.

Statewide, Grothman led with 209,473 votes, while Zarbano had 121,682.

Manitowoc County voters elect Donald Trump as president

As in previous presidential races, voters in Manitowoc County overwhelmingly chose Republican candidate Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, with 17,598 votes as of 11:50 PM on Tuesday.

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz received 8,754 votes from Manitowoc County.
