Two dead, one injured in shooting at recording studio on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT – Two people are dead and one person is injured after a shooting at a recording studio on Detroit’s west side.

The shooting happened on Tuesday (Nov. 5) at 7 p.m. in the 15344 block of W. McNichols Road.

Officials said two men stopped them while they were on patrol and said two men were shot in the recording studio.

“The incident is contained as it occurred this afternoon, and there is no threat to the community as the shooting occurred inside the location,” said Detroit Police Department Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchett.

Officers said they responded and entered the location and found three people shot, including a deceased black man and black woman and another black man who had suffered gunshot wounds.

The injured man was taken to a Metro Detroit hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

“(The shooting) It should be scary for everyone because no one wants to be in a neighborhood where people are getting shot,” Pritchett said. “The Detroit Police Department is capable. We are here. We are heroes and I am confident that this crime can also be solved.”

A homicide task force is handling the situation and looking at Ring doorbell cameras that could capture anyone leaving the scene of the shooting.

“If anyone saw or heard anything, please let us know,” Pritchett said. “If you see something, say something. You can call 1-800-Speak-Up, DetroitRewardsTV, or Homicide at 313-596-2260.
