Two snipers of Gogi gang arrested in Delhi after brief encounter

Delhi Police arrested two Gogi gang sharpshooters, including a youth, after a brief encounter in connection with the extortion-related shooting incident in Alipur and Nangloi area.

According to police on Tuesday, two separate shooting incidents at real estate dealer offices in Nangloi and Alipur on Monday raised alarm among the general public.

A senior police official said: “The attackers, later identified as members of the infamous Gogi Gang, were involved in extortion activities targeting local businessmen. A police team recognized the seriousness of the situation and immediately launched an investigation, analyzing technical and manual data, including CCTV footage, which showed that the same persons were involved in both shootings.”

He added that the arrested gunman was identified as 18-year-old Akash Rathore, 18, a resident of Khera Khurd in Delhi, and another individual was found to be a minor.

“Through continued investigation, a tip-off was received that two of the gunmen, Akash and Hunny, would arrive in Narela. At around 8.15 pm, the suspects were seen waiting for a scooty. When the suspects noticed the police, they tried to flee,” another officer said, adding that a suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the officers, prompting an immediate response.
