Two teenagers charged over alleged stabbing after an ugly Halloween brawl in southern New South Wales

Two teenagers have been charged after an alleged stabbing and fight in Wollongong on Halloween.

Emergency services were called to a park on Burelli Street, Wollongong, at around 10pm on Thursday, October 31, after New South Wales Police received reports of a stabbing.

It is claimed a group of people were involved in a brawl before a 16-year-old boy was stabbed multiple times.

The teenager was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene has been established following the stabbing and will be examined by police as investigations into the incident continue.

The following day at 2.45pm on November 1, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Dapto and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was twice refused bail to appear in the children’s court: on Saturday 2 and Tuesday 12 November.

Police then carried out further investigations and arrested a 17-year-old, who was charged with affray on Wednesday, November 6.

The teenager was refused bail and will appear in the children’s court on Wednesday, November 6.
