What Jaguars can improve after another short loss

The Jacksonville Jaguar’s 16-point third quarter had fans leaning toward their televisions after losing by 16 points at halftime to the Philadelphia Eagles, thinking a comeback was on the horizon. Unable to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard in any quarter, another loss was added to the Jags list.

In consecutive games, the Jaguars suffered another heartbreaking loss. However, there are some benefits that fans can take away from not strictly looking at their record.

The team has only been eliminated in two games this season: a 47-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills and a 35-16 loss to the Chicago Bears. The other outcomes, while no laughing matter, are highly controversial for Doug Pederson and the team.

After trailing 16-0 at halftime, the Jaguars needing to catch up is not on their bingo card as they attempt to stage a comeback. Trevor Lawrence tried to get his team back within range in the third with a 61-yard drive in 10 plays.

Travon Walker recovered a fumble for a touchdown, bringing them even closer. The momentum was seemingly on their side, trailing by one score, but head coach Pederson decided to punt on fourth-and-3 instead of going for it late in the game, bringing the momentum to an abrupt halt.

Even though they left the game losers, the Jaguars have been playing some good football lately, where Philly may have just sneaked away with a win. Some problems need to be addressed in the coming weekswhile playing against tough teams.

The way the team responds to heartbreaking loss after loss may be on display in their upcoming game against Minnesota. Wins are the only way to get this team’s confidence back. Pederson weighed in on his team’s performance, closing out the losses against opponents to the press.

“Two weeks ago, the Packers played in the NFC Championship game a year ago, right? The team we played yesterday was recently in the Super Bowl,” Pederson said. “Honestly, you’re eliminating some mistakes; we’re not giving them a 13-point cut on sales.”

Only time will tell from performance whether the mistakes this team faces will be corrected.
