‘Best Celtic display since the days of Sutton & Larsson’ – fan view on RB Leipzig victory

We asked you for your thoughts after Celtic’s outstanding Champions League win and performance against RB Leipzig.

Here’s what some of you had to say:

George: Great performance by Celtic, who came from 1-0 behind and scored three goals. Callum McGregor ran the show in midfield and Nicolas Kuhn did the rest, he was man of the match.

Prentice: The best performance from Celtic I have seen since the 2003 UEFA Cup final season. Defensively we were rigid, Cameron Carter-Vickers is the best defender we have had at the club since Virgil Van Dijk. Kuhn does a great job proving last season’s doubters wrong. I dare say we can have one eye on the top eight…

Dave: Apart from about 15 minutes into the first half, I thought Celtic dominated the game. Sure, they’ve been lucky a few times, but that’s to be expected at this level. Great win.

Craig: It was a beautiful, magical evening. From the noise of the Champions League anthem to the final whistle, the stadium was shaking and the players were there. A memorable Champions League evening that we haven’t seen for years. Not only the result, but also the performance.

Ben: 60,000 fans watch Celtic dismantle a top Bundesliga team. Celtic are rightly at the top and Celtic Park is certainly one of the top three in the UCL.

John: Great. RB Leipzig couldn’t handle our speed. The pressure on the second goal was enormous. Five different players swarmed around them. Kuhn is just on fire and Reo Hatate played his best game in a long time. We controlled the second half.

Daithi: What an incredible achievement from Celtic, they ended up in the Champions League. They were clinical in passing and shutting down their opponents when necessary. Kuhn was unplayable, his finish for his first goal would have been talked about all night had Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo scored. Perfect performance from everyone in this great Celtic team.

Andy: Best Celtic display I’ve seen since the days of Chris Sutton, Henrik Larsson and co. The game management in the second half was incredible. The only slight negative for me is Greg Taylor, he is constantly going backwards. Get started on signing Alex Valle to a permanent contract. Now we have to consolidate this by getting three points against Bruges.

Paul: The team has matured and is getting better. They learn their lessons from poor performance and correct their shortcomings with good coaching, dedication and a great work ethic. John Kennedy needs a credit for his work and Brendan is now making them work as one.

Alan: Excellent performance from Celtic! Some eyebrows will be raised across Europe.

Joe: Celtic are now seriously maturing in Europe. The patience to sit and be solid, combined with the ability to play the fast-flowing passing game in the future, is exciting. Some of the quick exchanges of passes in tight spaces are a joy to watch. Many players were in top form and McGregor has to be one of Britain’s best midfielders. Momentum.
