Stoke-on-Trent man died after being run over by a trailer – inquest

A council worker was killed when he was hit by a van driven by a colleague and run over by the trailer he was pulling, an inquest has heard.

Craig Pointon, of Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent, suffered fatal head injuries in the incident on Canal Lane, Longport, on May 30, 2022.

Following an inquest on Monday and Tuesday, a jury ruled that the 50-year-old died as a result of a road accident.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council said Mr Pointon, who had worked for the authority for almost 25 years, was a “highly valued” colleague and described his death as a “tragic accident”.
