Find out if Sebastian City Council terms have changed

SEBASTIAN – Voters rejected a proposed city charter amendment that would have extended the term of the Sebastian City Council.

The referendum question asked by the City Council in April brought to a vote whether an amendment to Sebastian’s city charter should extend the City Council’s term to four years or maintain the two-year term.

Supporters said an extension would end costly annual elections, reduce disruptions caused by council member turnover and give new council members more time to learn the job.

A 2011 referendum The attempt to extend the deadlines also failed with 62%.
