32-year-old arrested for drug production and trafficking in Casal di Principe

A 32-year-old will face charges of production and possession for the purpose of drug trafficking after he was found in possession of more than 7 kilos of drugs and a complex indoor marijuana cultivation and production system during a search by the local Carabinieri in Casal Tue Principe yesterday afternoon. The Carabinieri, involved in a territorial control service, immediately approached after noticing some suspicious movements near the 32-year-old’s home, and were immediately struck by the unmistakable pungent smell of marijuana. The immediate search of the apartment on the first floor of the building led to the discovery of 41 marijuana plants, 7 kilograms of the same drug in glass jars, 30 grams of hashish and various materials for packaging doses. The entire apartment, consisting of several rooms, was divided into functional areas for the cultivation and production of the drug. In one of the rooms, officers found two huts used as greenhouses, complete with iron structures, thermal plates and ventilation pipes, containing numerous potted marijuana plants. The complex setup consisted of lamps, thermostatic extractors, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, electric pump irrigators, fertilizers, hundreds of seeds and countless other electronic systems useful for creating and maintaining the ideal conditions for marijuana cultivation in the greenhouses. In a second room, which was used for drying the plants, the officers found more drugs on hanging ropes, some of which were already ready to be put on the illegal market. All drugs and materials found, together with a cash amount of 2,370.00 euros, considered proceeds from illegal activities, were seized. The 32-year-old was arrested after the formalities and placed under house arrest at the disposal of the judicial authority.
