Missing Springer Spaniel in Manotick: Community meetings to find white and brown dog

In Manotick Ont. The search is on for Bentley, a four-year-old Springer Spaniel dog, who was last seen on Sunday on the south side of the city island, near the curling club.

The white and brown dog broke free from its collar on Main Street around 10 a.m. Saturday and has only been spotted a few times since.

Bentley is chipped but does not wear a collar, and owner Misty Giroux describes him as timid but friendly and non-aggressive.

Giroux urges anyone who sees Bentley to report sightings to the Facebook group “Manotick Neighbors help neighbors.” The owner notes that the lost dog may be reacting to treats or food.

Despite the challenging terrain in some areas, community members have shown an outpouring of support. Volunteers canvassed neighborhoods, putting up posters and calling out to Bentley in hopes he would come out of hiding. A drone search was carried out on Sunday near the Prince of Wales and Bankfield area, although heavy bush made spotting the dog difficult.

The most recent sighting was unconfirmed and was reported near Prince of Wales and Bankfield on Sunday morning. A professional dog search team is likely to begin its search on Wednesday.
