DARK FATE director reflects on decision to kill John Connor – GeekTyrant

After directing the first Deadpool film, Tim Molenaar jumped into the Terminator franchise next James Cameron to make Terminator: Dark fate.

Dark fate wasn’t a huge hit at the box office, but it was easily one of the better ones Terminator films made since then Terminator 2 was released to many positive reviews from fans and critics.

It was pretty cool to see original franchise stars Arnold Schwarzenegger And Linda Hamilton together again on screen. But there were moments in the film that didn’t quite work for fans.

One of the big creative decisions that fans didn’t like was when a T-800 shot a young John Connor, creating a new timeline.

While speaking to Variety, Miller reflected on that, saying, “No one is going to ignore someone’s deep-seated childhood dreams. It’s not a cause for vitriol. A lot of people didn’t like it Terminator: Dark fate for reasons that had nothing to do with me.

“One because it was the sixth film and another because we killed off John Connor at the beginning, but if Jim Cameron wants that to happen – which I agree with, by the way – then that’s what you do.”

Cameron earlier took responsibility for Terminator: Dark Fates shortcomings. He said, “Our problem wasn’t that the movie didn’t work. The problem was that people didn’t show up. I turned this over to Tim Miller many times. I said, ‘I torpedoed that movie before we ever wrote it.’ a word or a foot of film. ”

Cameron said he “got high on my own supply” by creating an instant Terminator 2 sequel, and leaned too hard on the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s T-800 and and Linda Hamilton‘s Sarah Connor.

He explained: “We achieved our goal. We made a legitimate sequel to a movie where the people who actually went to the movies at the time the movie came out were all dead, retired, crippled, or have dementia-starter. There There was nothing in the film for new audiences.”

Cameron is now working on a Terminator reboot that will do just that throw everything overboard that came earlier. It will be a completely new and fresh take on the franchise.
