Shohei Ohtani’s surgery could have a major impact on his pitching in the 2025 season

On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that Shohei Ohtani had undergone surgery to repair the left shoulder he injured during the World Series.

Shohei Ohtani underwent successful arthroscopic surgery today in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, to repair a labral tear resulting from a left shoulder dislocation on October 26. He is expected to be ready for Spring Training.

That’s big news and it reflects what former NFL team Doctor David Chao himself had predicted during the World Series. Chao at the time predicted that Ohtani had a tear in his labrum and now it’s confirmed.

Star player Shohei Ohtani attempted to steal second base and was tagged out, as he appeared on video to be suffering from a transient left shoulder dislocation with a possible associated labral tear, based on analysis by our team at Pro Sports Docs. This injury is significant and will almost certainly spell the end of the World Series for Ohtani, the Dodgers’ dynamic leadoff hitter. If the injury is confirmed, surgery would be expected, with the goal of having him close to being ready by spring training of 2025.

The Dodgers won the World Series, so all is well and things will end well, but this could have a major impact on Ohtani in 2025. While he is expected to be ready for spring training, there are big questions about how this will affect his return to pitching. . Ohtani was rehabbing his right elbow after Tommy John surgery and no doubt had a pitching program he was going to follow this season. If his left arm is hit during the offseason, it could halt his progress and further delay his return to the bump.

Considering all Evaders Injury issues on the mound left them desperate to get Ohtani back.

As a pitcher, Ohtani has a longevity of 38-19 with an ERA of 3.01. He struckout 608 batters in 481.2 innings. He made 86 starts, all for the Angels.

Even without pitching this year, Ohtani will win his third MVP Award in the last four years.
