Houston social worker accused of sexually assaulting a patient during a visit

A mental health worker has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman multiple times while visiting her Houston apartment in 2023.

Hubert Hardenan, 60, who worked for True Mental Health Company, has since been charged with attempted assault.

Authorities initially responded to a report of indecent exposure from Hardenan’s client. However, the investigation soon revealed a much more disturbing series of events, including allegations of sexual assault.

According to court documents, the woman said her weekly mental health sessions would start like any other, but Hardenan would then start making inappropriate comments about her body. On two occasions, the woman said he exposed himself to her and made her feel uncomfortable.

On a third occasion, the woman said Hardenan came to her home for a routine visit and again made a comment about her body. She said she excused herself by going to her bedroom, and when she looked up, Hardenan was in her bedroom. She said he closed her bedroom door, pushed the woman onto the bed and stood behind her. She said he then pulled down his pants and tried to attack her.

The woman said that when he was done, she immediately called the True Mental Health Company and told them what happened, and they advised her to contact the police.

Officers said they collected DNA evidence from the woman’s home and were able to link it back to Hardenan, leading to his arrest.

KPRC 2 reached out to True Mental Health Company for comment, but we have not heard from them as of Wednesday afternoon.
