Draymond Green gets honest about Washington Wizards’ Jordan Poole

Jordan Poole wanted his Washington Wizards to beat his former Golden State Warriors team, but they failed to do so with a 125-112 loss.

However, Poole received some respect and praise from his former teammate and part-time opponent Draymond Green.

Green also explained why he feels Poole struggled in his first year with the club Wizards and why this season could be different.

‘He’s playing much better’ Green said of Poole via ESPN’s Instagram page. “As a competitor you just want to show everything you’ve got, and I think he put a lot of pressure on him last year. He just wanted it to happen so badly, and this year he’s a lot more comfortable. He doesn’t take the leadership. I think it was a matter of wanting so much to prove to the people that ‘I can have my own team, that I can come here and be successful’ that it ultimately works against you… That speaks to the patience with which he plays now. I think he will do well to settle down and let the play come to him.

So far this season, Poole is averaging 22.5 points and 5.0 assists per game, two metrics in which he has improved from last year.

It’s still early for the Wizardswho are only six games into the lengthy 82-game schedule, but early returns have shown that Poole is ready to take the next step and be a real leader for the team.

Now that a renovation is underway, the Wizards could trade some of the team’s veterans, but Poole appears to be out of those conversations. He appears to be someone the Wizards want to keep for the long term, and this season could help prove that point.
