Man killed in motorcycle crash in Cherokee County

GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office said a man died after a motorcycle accident Wednesday.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reports that a 2005 Honda motorcycle was traveling east on Hopewell Road near SC Highway 5 on Wednesday around 1:21 p.m.

A 2012 Rollback wrecker was stopped while looking west on Hopewell Road while attempting to make a left turn, SCHP said.

According to police, the motorcycle went off the right side of the road, overturned and slid back across the roadway under the wrecked car.

The Cherokee County coroner identified the motorcyclist as 47-year-old Mark David Cook and said Cook was not wearing a helmet when he was thrown from the motorcycle.

He died of his injuries at Cherokee Medical Center shortly after 2:30 p.m
