Lincoln woman arrested after allegedly shooting her husband

LINCOLN, Mo. – A woman in rural Lincoln, Missouri, was arrested after she was accused of shooting her husband on Tuesday, November 5, while he was putting air in a truck tire at their home.

Katherine Roark, 52, has been charged with domestic violence causing serious bodily injury and armed criminal action.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Scotty Roark, 56, was shot in the back around 8:30 a.m. after inflating a truck tire. Officers located Scotty and observed a gunshot wound to his lower body. He was taken by ambulance to a trauma hospital because the trauma helicopter could not fly at that time due to the weather conditions.

Benton County deputies located Katherine at the residence and took her into custody without incident.

According to court documents, Katherine spoke to police and stated that she had a revolver because she was frustrated by her husband’s verbal abuse over the past two days. On the morning of the incident, she shot her husband three times and chased him into the yard as he tried to escape, according to online court records.

Katherine was taken to the Benton County Jail, where she was held on a $500,000 bond.
