Rockford Area Arts Council holds public meeting to purchase Armory building

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The arts council plans to purchase the Armory building, but must first hold a public meeting for public input.

The public meeting took place at noon on November 6 at the Rockford Public Library, 118 N. Main Street.

The arts council currently has full support to purchase the Armory building for $1000.

Mary McNamara Bernsten, executive director of the Rockford Area Arts Council, expresses excitement about the Armory and the life coming to Rockford. “I think there is a fever for this redevelopment that has happened for the Embassy Suites, Barbara Coleman and all the work that Justin Fern is doing with Urban Equity to really revitalize and breathe life into these beautiful old spaces.”
