COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents will meet Wednesday and Thursday with major construction projects and university changes on the agenda.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Bethancourt Ballroom of the Memorial Student Center on the Texas A&M campus, when the board will first meet and then move into a closed board session. Public portions will resume Thursday, beginning with committee meetings at 8:30 a.m. and followed by a full board session at 11:45 a.m.

The public can attend in person or watch the livestream on the website of the Board of Regents.

A substantial portion of Thursday’s discussions will focus on more than $500 million in proposed construction projects, including the development of a space institute at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, a clinical veterinary education and research complex in College Station, and a hypersonic wind tunnel at the Texas A&M-RELLIS campus in Bryan.

The board will also consider key agenda items impacting Texas A&M campuses statewide. These include a resolution to rename Texas A&M University-Commerce as East Texas A&M University, eliminating certain minors and certificate programs with low enrollment, authorizing the acquisition of a nearly 78-acre tract adjacent to the A&M-RELLIS campus, and appointing an interim president. for Texas A&M International University in Laredo.
