(Society)Unauthorized online advertisements as if licensed for medical devices…155 cases detected.

A number of dishonest online advertisements have been discovered, such as misleading general industrial products such as medical devices.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said it has blocked advertisements and requested administrative action against companies in 155 cases where unlicensed products are being confused with medical devices as if they were licensed or at least had been wrongly advertised, in violation of the permission.

It included products claiming to be a “major growth” and “plantar fasciitis treatment” without medical device authorization, and sales posts that were exaggerated contrary to authorizations such as “no additives” and “no preservatives.”

Since there are many online advertisements that mislead consumers, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has asked you to check and report the authorization certification on the website (emedi.mfds.go.kr/portal) of the Medical Device Safety Bookstore) before using a medical device.

The joint investigation into online unfair advertisements was conducted with the self-deliberation organization for advertisements for medical devices.
