Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead and NBA 2K franchises post high sales in Q2 FY24

Today, Take-Two Interactive has its quarterly earnings report for the second quarter of fiscal 2024. The company revealed details about its most popular game franchises, including that Grand Theft Auto once again performed at the top of Take-Two’s expectations. According to the report, Grand Theft Auto V has sold over 205 million copies worldwide, paving the way for its successor, Grand Theft Auto VI, which is still slated for a fall 2025 release.

Two other Take-Two franchises hit sales milestones this quarter: Red Dead and NBA 2K. According to the report, more than 67 million copies of Red Dead Redemption 2 have been sold to date, and the company plans to see sales of the franchise increase with the launch of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare for PC in October.

On the 2K side, NBA 2K has also shown good numbers with the release of NBA 2K25, which has sold almost 4.5 million copies since its launch in early September. The company also reports that Gearbox titles led its catalog in performance, but did not offer specific figures. CEO Strauss Zelnick called Borderlands 4 one of the company’s “exciting new titles” in the pipeline.

Other notes from the report indicate that Rockstar has expanded its GTA+ premium subscription service, with membership growing 35% year-over-year. That said, the report also noted that Grand Theft Auto Online remained relatively flat in terms of recurring consumer spend (RCS) and is expected to decline in FY25.
