Ron Johnson suggests Trump should consider commuting Hunter Biden’s sentence

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said Tuesday he hoped Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would consider commuting first son Hunter Biden’s sentence as a way to unite the country.

“From my point of view, I think we need to look at … some degree of mercy,” Johnson said in reference to Hunter Biden. “I wouldn’t really want to pardon because I don’t want to excuse the behavior… some change of sentiment or whatever. Again, I don’t want to get ahead of myself because he hasn’t been convicted yet. “

Republicans in the House of Representatives and the Senate have launched numerous to research about Hunter and how his father, President Joe Biden, was involved in his foreign business dealings.

Hunter has also been affected costs of tax evasion and lying on a form to buy a gun.

“I think President Trump did the right thing in 2017 when he basically said, ‘No, we’re not going after Hillary Clinton,’” Johnson said.

Johnson said he didn’t think Hunter Biden should be pardoned, but that he shouldn’t get off “scot-free.”
