The person who shot two officers in Bowling Green during a mental health crisis on Wednesday morning was shot and killed during the incident, according to Kentucky State Police.

Two Bowling Green police officers responded to the call about a person having a mental health crisis, KSP reports. That individual became combative, attempted to disarm an officer and gain control of a weapon, shooting the principal of the two.

One of the officers discharged his firearm, striking the individual, who suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both officers have since been released from hospital and the incident remains under investigation.
