Person seriously injured in daylight stabbing in NW Portland; Suspect charged

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – One person was seriously injured in a daylight stabbing in northwest Portland on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Shortly after 3 p.m., officers responded to Northwest Flanders Street and Northwest 23rd Avenue for reports of a stabbing. They found a victim, who was subsequently taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The Portland Police Bureau said at a news conference Wednesday that resources and patrols will remain on site in Portland after Election Day.

After obtaining a description, police located and arrested a suspect in the area of ​​Northwest Flander Street and Northwest Westover Road.

The suspect, 35-year-old Zachary Kelso, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces two charges of first-degree assault.
