Former Missouri City officer charged in fatal crash released from jail after bond was reduced

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A former Missouri City police officer charged in June in a fatal crash that killed a mother and her 16-year-old son has been released from jail after his bond was reduced.

Court records show 27-year-old Blademir Viveros had his bond reduced from $800,000 to $500,000 by a Fort Bend County judge on Tuesday. He has since left prison and will have a status hearing on December 16.

Viveros was charged with manslaughter on Oct. 28 in connection with a crash that killed Angela Stewart and her son Mason Stewart.

Viveros was reportedly responding to a report of a robbery and driving over the posted speed limit on Cartwright Road in Missouri City.

At one point, a 2005 Toyota Corolla passenger car failed to yield the right of way out of a Dollar Tree parking lot on Cartwright near FM 2234 when Viveros’ SUV struck their vehicle.

The investigation revealed that Viveros had not turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights at the time of the crash.

Viveros was taken to Memorial Hermann Houston Medical Center for treatment and later released.

Angela and Mason Stewart died at the scene of the crash.
