The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) has confirmed the death of a doctoral student, believed to be a suicide. This is the second incident at the university since May.
In an email to faculty, staff and students, UTSA President Taylor Eighmy informed the campus community of the loss, saying, “It is with a heavy heart that I write to share that we have lost a member of our doctoral student community, likely to suicide. ” He encouraged those affected to seek support, highlighting the availability of 24/7 welfare resources.

The incident took place at the Bauerle Road Garage on the university campus. Police were called to the scene earlier this morning and UTSA later published a social media post confirming the death. “Information is still gathering,” the message read, warning the community to avoid the area due to ongoing police activity: “Runners, there is police activity in the area of ​​the Bauerle Road Garage. Please avoid the area.”
