WSJ reports Trump is reviewing options for Ukraine peace plan that would cede all occupied territories to Moscow, suspend NATO expansion and create DMZ

The Wall Street Journal reports that Donald Trump is now inundated with competing proposals from advisers to fulfill his campaign promise to end the war in Ukraine before Inauguration Day.

The US president-elect has reportedly yet to approve a specific plan to bring both sides to the negotiating table, but WSJ’s sources say any proposals on his desk run counter to the Biden administration’s approach of letting Kiev dictate when the peace talks should begin.

According to the WSJ, the options before Trump unequivocally recommend freezing the war, “solidifying Russia’s seizure of about 20 percent of Ukraine” and forcing Ukraine to suspend its pursuit of NATO membership for at least 20 years. The current front line of the war “would effectively remain in place,” and both sides would agree to an 800-mile demilitarized zone, guarded by European peacekeepers and without any American troops or soldiers from a US-funded international body, such as the United States Nations.
