The person killed in a crash on the M6 ​​was the male truck driver in his 50s, police have confirmed.




The M6 ​​was closed between junctions 32 and 33 for almost 24 hours after a northbound lorry crossed the southbound carriageway, overturning and colliding with oncoming traffic.

The incident happened at around 11.20am yesterday (6 November) while the southbound M6 was still closed for tarmac work.

Police said yesterday that one person had died in the crash and it has now been confirmed that person was the driver of the truck, a man in his 50s.

Two other people, the driver of a Ford Transit, a man in his 40s, and the driver of a Suzuki Swift, a woman in her 40s, were seriously injured.

A police spokesperson said: “We continue to appeal for witnesses following a collision on the M6 ​​motorway.

“Our thoughts are with all those affected at this time.

“Two lanes of the northbound carriageway are now open, and one remains closed. The southbound carriageway remains completely closed for surface repairs so please check before traveling as diversions are in place.”
