Take-Two doubles GTA 6 release date after delay rumors

Grand Theft Auto 6 publisher Take-Two has doubled the game’s expected launch window of late 2025, after previous rumors that Rockstar could still postpone the arrival of the game.

Take-Two’s latest financial briefing last night placed GTA6 at “the fall of calendar (year) 2025”, as previously expected.

Other upcoming launches from the publisher include Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country – both of which simply have a launch date of ‘fiscal 2026’. This means they will arrive between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026.

For now, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has said so GTA5 – also released ten years ago – continues to ‘exceed’ sales expectations, mainly due to ‘sustained engagement’ (and spending) in GTA Online.

“Sales of Grand Theft Auto V exceeded our expectations and to date the title has sold more than 205 million copies worldwide,” said Zelnick. “Grand Theft Auto Online also exceeded our plans, driven by continued engagement with the Bottom Dollar Bounties summer content pack and a series of updates, including the new multi-stage Assault on ATT-16(ph) mode and experience improvements such as a new anti-cheat system for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto Online.”

GTA+ subscription membership grew 35 percent this year, Zelnick continued, while adding Rockstar classics like Bully. Red Dead Redemption 2 has also continued to sell and has now sold 67 million since its launch six years ago.

Zelnick said that before Don’t expect GTA 6 to launch via any subscription servicesuch as Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, because Take-Two’s “decisions are rational.”
