Case against sites selling t-shirts with Dawood and Lawrence Bishnoi’s photos

The Cyber ​​Wing of Maharashtra Police on Thursday registered a case against several e-commerce websites for allegedly selling T-shirts with photos of fugitive criminal Dawood Ibrahim and jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The case was filed after the cyber wing officials noticed the t-shirts at Flipkart, Etsy, AliExpress and Teeshopper, during an online vigilance exercise.

“The products, which glorify criminal figures, pose a significant risk to society by promoting a distorted view (of values) that could negatively impact young minds,” a Maharashtra cyber cell official said while speaking on the issue.

A t-shirt with a photo of Dawood Ibrahim was listed on an e-commerce website.

On e-commerce website Etsy, a t-shirt with a photo of Dawood Ibrahim was available for just over Rs 1,500.

Earlier on Tuesday, November 5, several X users also arrived called on e-commerce platforms Meesho, Flipkart and Teeshopper faced backlash for selling t-shirts with the image of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The issue came to light when a social media user shared screenshots of the products listed on X on the platform.

67-year-old Dawood Ibrahim is a criminal wanted by Indian authorities for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and several other cases.

Meanwhile, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is currently in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail in cases filed under India’s anti-terror laws and is involved in more than 70 criminal cases.

His gang is alleged to have been involved in high-profile crimes, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala and issuing threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
