Alleged cocaine traffickers arrested during traffic stop in Iredell: Sheriff

IREDELL COUNTY, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Two men accused of trafficking cocaine were arrested this week during a traffic stop in Iredell County, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office announced.

On Monday, a car was stopped for an unspecified traffic violation along I-77 and New Jersey residents Nery Amaya-Maldonado, 30, and Edwin Vargas-Flores, 27, were questioned. Three hidden ounces of cocaine were found in the vehicle and both men were arrested.

They now face multiple drug-related charges, including human trafficking.

Both were held on $350,000 secured bond.
