Man dies due to torture by moneylender

Nizamabad: In yet another incident of torture by moneylenders, a man died by suicide at Ashoksagar in Yedapally mandal. The deceased was identified as Syed Habib Azahar, 32, from Autonagar in Nizamabad.

Sources said Syed left the house on Tuesday and was found dead in the Ashoksagar lake. The body was recovered from the water on Wednesday and shifted to Government General Hospital in Nizamabad for post-mortem.

Syed borrowed a hand loan of Rs 3 lakh from Sheikh Arshad Ali of Phulong in the city, which he repaid after a short delay. However, Ali, along with his uncle, a police employee, allegedly harassed Syed and demanded additional payments as criminal interest.

It is believed that Syed, who could not bear the harassment, died by suicide.
