38th Student Hunger Drive will hold a finals meeting tonight

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – The 38th Student Hunger Campaign concludes Thursday evening with a final meeting.

Sixteen high schools from the Quad Cities region participated in the food and fund drive, which launched in September.

Students from competing schools planned, executed and set goals to be named the top fundraisers in their division.

“There’s nothing like the Student Hunger Drive,” said Jenny Colvin, vice president of the River Bend Food Bank, in a news release. “Every year I am energized by the commitment and creativity these children bring to ending hunger, and they remind us all how much easier it is to tackle big problems like hunger when we have many hands help us. out. Their efforts go far into our local communities.”

During the ride, students learn about volunteering and organizing while working with area primary and secondary schools.

The meeting will be from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the River Bend Food Bank. Before the meeting starts, the students deliver the donations to the food bank.

Last year the Student Hunger Drive provided 818,468 meals, surpassing the 2022 record of 817,038 meals.
