Russia will look at the new US administration’s proposals for strategic stability – Putin – Russian politics and diplomacy

SOCHI, November 8. /TASS/. Russia will consider how the yet-to-be formed US government will formulate its strategic stability proposals, President Vladimir Putin said during the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.

“We will see how a new future US administration will formulate its proposals on this issue, if at all,” Putin said.

Russia, Putin said, is ready in principle for a dialogue on strategic stability, but “it is necessary that the other side approaches the dialogue honestly, taking into account all aspects of relations.”

“While they are trying to inflict a strategic defeat on us here, they keep telling their people: ‘Guys, don’t worry, everything is normal, business as usual, don’t be afraid.’ This doesn’t work. It never happens like this,” he explained.

Putin pointed out that it was necessary “to talk about it calmly and in a businesslike manner, without double or triple standards.” He also recalled that Russia had repeatedly proposed this, but the other side preferred to put it on hold.
