Man killed in tractor accident

QUILIN, Mo. (KAIT) – An accident involving a tractor claimed the life of one man and left another seriously injured.

The accident happened at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, November 7, on Missouri Highway 53, one mile south of Qulin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 69-year-old Malden man was northbound when his 2006 Ford Escort struck the rear of a John Deere tractor driven by a 47-year-old Piggott man.

The Escort then crossed over the center of the roadway and struck a 2021 Buick Encore driven by a 64-year-old Poplar Bluff man.

Butler County Coroner Jim Akers pronounced the Poplar Bluff man dead at the scene at 6:13 a.m.

An ambulance took the Malden man to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
