Increase in copper wire theft noted in Cottage Grove

Authorities in Cottage Grove report that the city’s street lights have been tampered with recently.

Cottage Grove Public Safety said its team is doing what it can to combat copper wire theft, but wants the public to be alert to suspicious activity around light poles.

If anyone sees suspicious activity, he or she should call 911 to alert authorities.

They also advise residents never to approach anyone who may be doing anything suspicious, saying it is the duty of the police to do so.
